Facts and Information
RESTYLANE Perlane is used for the correction of moderate to severe facial folds and wrinkles. It helps in smoothing lines from the nose to the corners of the mouth, and has been found to restore fullness to the skin. It is available in a generic form called dermal filler.
RESTYLANE Perlane or dermal filler is injected into the skin with a ultrafine needle. It then works to plump the skin and smoothes away folds and wrinkles such as those mentioned above. It attracts and binds water molecules to aid in maintaining volume. RESTYLANE Perlane and dermal filler are composed of hyaluronic acid, a natural substance that already exists in the human body. RESTYLANE Perlane has been found to deliver long-lasting results. Studies have shown its effects to last around six months. Perlane gradually disappears from the body without leaving a trace.
You may be prohibited from using RESTYLANE Perlane or dermal filler if you have a history of bad allergies, allergic reactions to certain medications or if you have a bleeding disorder. It should not be injected anywhere except the skin or just underneath the skin. RESTYLANE Perlane or dermal filler cannot be used on skin areas containing pimples, rashes, hives, skin sores, cysts or infections. In these instances, use of this medication could delay healing or cause skin problems to worsen. In these cases the use of the medication s will be postponed until such conditions are completely healed.
After using RESTYLANE Perlane or dermal filler you may experience skin discoloration, bruising, swelling, redness, tenderness, pain, itching or small lumps in the areas of injection. The majority of such occurrences last less than seven days. If you experience any symptom that lasts over two weeks, you should immediately call the doctor who administered the RESTYLANE Perlane or dermal filler injection. In rare instances, inflammatory papules, (small bumps that are red or swollen), will occur. Antibiotics may be necessary to treat this problem.
